Original report: A school district in Northern Westchester is taking precautionary measures after receiving a bomb threat, officials said.
The Peekskill City School District received a bomb threat over email just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, officials announced.
In response, district officials contacted the city's police department, which is now assessing the credibility of the threat along with Westchester County Police.
As a precaution, the district has canceled all outdoor activities and is having visitors be vetted by administrators.
Classes are still continuing as planned and school staff have been told to let administrators know if they see anything unusual, district officials said.
The Peekskill Police Detective Division is continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with any information is asked to call the department at 914-737-8000.
